If you have a job, a portion of your salary goes into the Provident Fund (PF) each month, which is meant for your savings and retirement. However, it’s common to be unsure if that money is actually being deposited into your PF account. Here’s how you can easily check if your PF contributions are being made.

1. Check via the EPFO portal

You can find out your PF balance by visiting the official EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation) website. Just follow these steps:

– Go to the EPFO website.

– Click on the ‘Our Services’ section and select ‘For Employees’.

– Choose the ‘Member Passbook’ option.

– Enter your UAN number and password.

– Once logged in, you can view your passbook, which shows your PF balance and the deposited amount.

2. Get updates through SMS

If your UAN number is activated, you can also check your PF balance via SMS. Here’s how:

– Text ‘EPFOHO UAN’ from your registered mobile number.

– Send it to 7738299899.

– You’ll receive your PF balance details via SMS.

3. Check balance with a missed call

EPFO allows you to check your PF balance by giving a missed call. Just do this:

– Call 011-22901406 from your registered mobile number and hang up.

– You’ll get a text with your PF balance in a few seconds.

4. Use the UMANG app

You can also check your PF balance using the UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) app. Here’s what to do:

– Download the UMANG app.

– Select the ‘EPFO’ option.

– Click on ‘Employee-Centric Services’.

– Enter your UAN number and OTP.

– You can then view your PF balance and other details.

5. Contact your HR department

If you can’t get the information through any of the above methods, reach out to your company’s HR department. They can help you with your PF details.
