DA Hike News: The next revision in Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government Employees and Pensioners is scheduled for January 2025. However, the government has not made any announcement regarding this yet. It is believed that the government may take some time to announce the DA hike, as the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPIN) data up to December 2024 will be awaited for the final decision.
DA Hike May Be Announced by March
The central government announces the Dearness Allowance (DA) hike twice a year: for January-June and July-December. The final calculation is usually made after six months of AICPIN (All India Consumer Price Index) data is available. Therefore, the government will only announce the DA hike for January 2025 after receiving the AICPIN data for July-December 2024. While the data for July-October 2024 is available, the data for November and December is yet to be released, with the December 2024 data expected in February 2025. This means the government will likely announce the DA hike for January 2025 only after February.
Current DA Rate: 53%
This year, the DA hike for July-December was announced in October. The next hike is expected to be announced in March 2025. For example, in 2024, the DA hike for January was announced in March, just before Holi. On March 6, the government increased the DA by 4%, bringing it to 50%. Later, in October, it was further raised by 3%, reaching the current rate of 53%.

Possibility of a 3% DA Increase
If the central government raises DA by 3% for January 2025, the minimum wage will increase by ₹540. Currently, the minimum monthly basic salary for central government employees is ₹18,000. Pensioners will also see an increase of ₹270, as the minimum pension is ₹9,000. For employees with a maximum salary of ₹2,50,000, the DA increase will amount to ₹7,500. DA May Reach 56% After the Increase
As mentioned earlier, the DA hike is based on AICPIN data. By October 2024, the AICPIN index had reached 144.5, which could lead to an increase in dearness allowance to 55.05%. If the index rises to 145.3 in November and December 2024, the DA could reach 56% in January 2025.
