DA Hike: The government of Jharkhand has sanctioned a seven percent increase in the dearness allowance (DA) for its employees, effective from July 1 of the previous year. An official announcement indicated that, in accordance with the Sixth Central Pay Commission, employees will now receive a DA of 246 percent of their current basic salary, up from the previous rate of 239 percent. This decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
DR raised for pensioners
Additionally, the Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners under the Sixth Pay Commission has also been raised by seven percent, bringing it to 246 percent, an increase from the earlier 239 percent. Joint Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Ranjan informed the media that the DA for government employees under the Fifth Pay Commission has been adjusted from 443 percent to 455 percent, effective July 1, 2024.
Cabinet approved a total of 12 proposals
In conjunction with the DA increase, the cabinet approved a total of 12 proposals. Notably, it has permitted women workers to engage in night shifts in factories, contingent upon their consent, allowing them to work from 7 PM to 6 AM. The cabinet has also endorsed the creation of the Factory Amendment Bill-2024, aimed at enhancing the Ease of Doing Business and aligning with the Business Reform Action Plan of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Furthermore, amendments to the selection and honorarium rules for Anganwadi Sevika and Sahayika have been approved. Another proposal includes special exemptions for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) within the state, with a bill to be introduced during the upcoming budget session of the assembly.
Lastly, the cabinet has sanctioned the division of assets and liabilities pertaining to the Bihar State Industrial Development Corporation and the Bihar State Electronic Development Corporation Limited following the bifurcation of the state.
