The state government finally hikes DA for many workers. The Law Department of Madhya Pradesh has increased the dearness allowance of the members of the Madhya Pradesh Judicial Service. The Dearness Allowance has been increased at par with the Center. According to the order issued in this regard, the judicial members will be given 53 percent of the dearness allowance instead of 50 percent from July 1, 2024, and this dearness allowance will not be considered a salary.
The High Court granted the apology
A bench of Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Vivek Jain accepted the unconditional apology of MP State Bar Council Chairman Radhelal Gupta. With this, the contempt action initiated after the advocates’ statewide strike was called off.
Earlier, the High Court was informed about the withdrawal of the petition filed in the Supreme Court, which was taken on record by the High Court. RK Singh Saini, vice chairman of the Madhya Pradesh State Bar Council, described it as a big relief for the lawyers of the state.
Lawyers’ strike in 2023
In fact, in March 2023, on the call of the MP State Bar Council, lawyers from all over the state, including Jabalpur, went on strike. After this, the High Court had given the order for the hearing of the cognizance-based PIL. At the initial hearing, the lawyers were directed to return to work immediately.
At the same time, citing the earlier order of the Supreme Court, he warned that if he did not return to work following the order, contempt action would be initiated by keeping this attitude in the category of contempt. Not only this, the order of their expulsion will not be passed either.
Along with the copy of this order, the High Court had arranged to issue notices to the Chairman of the MP State Bar, the President of the High Court Bar Jabalpur, Indore, and Gwalior, the President of the High Court Advocates Bar, Jabalpur, and the Presidents of all the District and Tehsil Bars of the state through the registry.
