Big news for state govt employees. Now DA hikes upto 20%. Yes you’ve heard it right. The Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) employees have been given a one-time hike of 20 per cent in the dearness allowance (DA) by the state government. They will get this benefit from 1st of August this year and it will benefit about 1500 permanent officers and employees of the corporation. The hike in dearness allowance for municipal employees comes after a gap of nearly five years.
Earlier in 2019, Dearness Allowance was given
Transport Minister Satish Sharma had given orders to the department in this regard. After that, this order was issued. Earlier in the year 2019, he was given dearness allowance at the rate of 17.5 percent. Now, the DA has gone up from 13.9 per cent to 15.9 per cent. The employees of the corporation have welcomed the decision, but they are still understating it and are demanding that they be given benefits as per the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission. The decision to increase the dearness allowance was taken by the board of directors of JKRTC in its meeting held on August 16, the managing director of JKSRTC said.
After the approval of this decision, an order was issued to issue 20 percent dearness allowance to regular officers and employees of the corporation.
Transport Minister Satish Sharma appreciates employees
Appreciating the services of JKRTC personnel, Transport Minister Satish Sharma said that JKRTC management and staff work round the clock to provide safe, affordable, sustainable and reliable transport service to the passengers in the state.
He said that there are many challenges before JKRTC and these can be effectively dealt with only when the management and employees are free from any mental pressure and their morale is high. He said that the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is making all possible efforts for the welfare of JKRTC employees.
He said that all necessary measures are being taken to make JKRTC a state-of-the-art and profitable venture. It is expected that with the release of the Dearness Allowance amount, the pending demand of the employees of the Corporation has been fulfilled and they will improve the functioning of the Corporation with full enthusiasm.
