Diwali Bonanza for Central Government: Good news is coming for the Central Government employees. The government has announced a Diwali bonus for its employees. Let us tell you that the Department of Expenditure of the Ministry of Finance approved the non-productivity linked bonus for the financial year 2023-24, also called an ad-hoc bonus. The ministry issued an order on October 10, giving this bonus equal to 30 days’ remuneration of the employees for the financial year 2023-24.
The order states that the eligible employees include non-gazetted employees of Group ‘C’ and Group ‘B’, who are not part of any productivity-linked bonus scheme. The maximum monthly salary to calculate the bonus has been fixed at Rs 7,000.
Who will get the benefit of a bonus?
This bonus will be given to the Central Paramilitary Forces and Armed Forces personnel. Its benefits will also apply to Union Territories employees who follow the government’s salary structure. To qualify for the bonus, employees must be in service as of March 31, 2024, and complete at least six months of continuous service during the year. Employees who have served for less than a year will get a proportionate bonus based on the months worked.
Bonus amount calculation: How it is done
The bonus amount will be calculated by dividing the average payments by 30.4 and multiplying it by 30 days. For example, if an employee’s monthly salary is Rs 7,000, their bonus will be around Rs 6,908.
Casual labourers who have worked at least 240 days a year for three consecutive years will also be eligible for this bonus, calculated based on Rs 1,200 per month. This announcement has brought good news for central government employees.
On the other hand, central government employees eagerly await the increase in dearness allowance from the government. Himachal Pradesh government has announced a 4 per cent increase for its 1.80 lakh employees before Diwali. Considering the Diwali festival, the government will also give salaries and pensions to employees and pensioners before time.
