A total of 30.58 crore workers from the unorganized sector have registered on the e-Shram Portal, which is run by the Central Government. These workers are receiving benefits from various public welfare schemes. The government shared this information in Parliament on Monday, February 3.
Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, stated in a written reply in the Lok Sabha that more than 1.23 crore workers registered on the e-Shram portal in 2024. Currently, an average of 33,700 registrations are being done daily.
What is the e-Shram Portal?
The e-Shram portal was launched on August 26, 2021, by the Ministry of Labor and Employment. Currently, it is linked to 12 schemes from different central ministries and is available in 22 Indian languages. This portal serves as an important platform for unorganized workers, aiming to connect them with social security schemes and collect their data.
How to Register on the e-Shram Portal?
The registration process on the e-Shram portal is very simple. Workers can register themselves online or visit the nearest Common Service Center (CSC) for assistance. The required documents include:
- Aadhaar card
- Bank account details
- Mobile number
- Benefits of the e-Shram Portal
- So far, 12 government schemes have been linked to the e-Shram portal. These include:
- Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
- Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)
- Ayushman Bharat
- PM-SVANidhi
- PM Awas Yojana, and more
