Big update for EPFO members. The Employees Provident Fund Organization has revamped its rules to make things easier for its members and streamline the updating process. Now, employees can quickly update their EPF profiles without needing to submit any documents. This change will help around 390,000 members who have pending requests. They can now cancel those requests and resubmit them using the new, simpler method.
What can you update?
The EPFO system has seen several updates, and the latest allows members to easily modify their personal details without any paperwork. This includes changes to their name, date of birth, gender, nationality, parents’ names, marital status, spouse’s name, and entry and exit dates, among other info.
Who can use this feature?
EPFO has stated that this service is available for members whose Universal Account Number (UAN) is linked to Aadhaar. The goal is to cut down on complaints and speed up the resolution of pending requests. Previously, changes required employer verification, which could take around 28 days.
Linking Aadhaar and PAN is essential
Now, about 45% of requests can be approved by the members themselves. The remaining 50% will still need employer approval, bypassing EPFO’s involvement. However, members must ensure their Aadhaar and PAN are linked to their EPF accounts, as this is necessary for any updates or withdrawals. Without this linkage, there could be delays in processing requests.
According to PIB, around 27% of member complaints are related to profile and KYC issues. The new process is expected to significantly reduce these complaints. For profile changes, members won’t need to submit documents or wait for employer approval, as long as their UAN is linked to Aadhaar. To request updates, members can log in to the EPFO portal or use the Umang app.
To update your info, start by heading over to the EPAO portal at https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/.
Log in using your UAN (Universal Account Number), password, and the Captcha. Once you’re in, click on the ‘Manage’ tab at the top.
If you want to change personal details like your name, date of birth, or gender, choose the ‘Modify basic details’ option. Make sure to fill in the information exactly as it appears on your Aadhaar card since the details in your EPF and Aadhaar need to match. If needed, upload any supporting documents like your Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Birth Certificate.
