EPFO ELI Scheme: The deadline to activate your Universal Account Number (UAN) and link your bank account with Aadhaar for the EPFO Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme has expired as of February 15, 2025. According to an EPFO circular issued on February 2, 2025, the Ministry of Labor and Employment has extended the deadline for UAN activation and Aadhaar linking in bank accounts until February 15, 2025.

What is UAN?

The Universal Account Number (UAN) is a 12-digit number provided by the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). Both the employer and employee receive this number to contribute to the EPF account. With UAN, you can track and secure your EPFO account.

What is the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme?

The Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme is a program launched by the Central Government for employees. It offers a direct benefit transfer to employees who get a job for the first time. The government provides up to Rs 15,000 in three instalments, with a salary cap of Rs 1 lakh per month. To avail of this benefit, employees need to activate their UAN and link it to Aadhaar and their bank account.

How to Activate Your UAN Number

  1. Go to the Unified EPF Member Portal: unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in.
  2. Scroll down to the “Important Links” section and click on “Activate UAN.”
  3. Fill in the required details: your 12-digit UAN number, Aadhaar number, name, date of birth, Aadhaar-linked mobile number, and the captcha code.
  4. Tick the declaration box and click on “Get Authorization Pin.”
  5. Enter the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number and click “Submit.”
  6. After UAN activation, a password will be sent to your mobile.
  7. Use the UAN and password to log in and fill in the captcha code.
  8. You can change your password after logging in. Your UAN number will now be activated.
