The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has introduced a new update for its millions of members. According to this update, any EPFO member can now easily correct their details without needing any documents. This includes information such as date of birth, citizenship, parents’ names, marital status, spouse’s name, gender, and date of joining or exiting the company. EPFO has made similar changes in the past as well. With this update, members with over four lakh pending cases will benefit.
What can be updated?
According to the new update, EPFO members can easily correct their details without needing any documents. This includes details such as the spelling of your name, date of birth, parents’ names, gender, marital status, spouse’s name, and other information like the date of joining or leaving the company.
Who can do this update?
This update is available only for EPFO members whose UAN (Universal Account Number) is linked and verified with Aadhaar. In the past, this required employer assistance, which was time-consuming, but now it’s much simpler.

Aadhaar and PAN linking required
Before updating details, EPFO members must check if their Aadhaar card is linked to their PAN card. If not, they should link both. According to EPFO, while members can update most of their information themselves, approval from EPFO will still be needed for updating 50% of the information. This is being done to reduce complaints, as many issues have been raised about the old process.
The complete process
- Visit the EPFO website.
- Log in by entering your UAN number, password, and captcha.
- Once logged in, you’ll find a ‘Manage’ option at the top. Click on it.
- Select the ‘Modify Basic Details’ option to update personal information.
- Fill in the details exactly as they appear on your Aadhaar card. Make sure that the details on both your Aadhaar and EPFO records match.
- If necessary, upload your Aadhaar card or PAN card as proof.
