The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has changed the rules for updating member profiles. According to the new rule, EPF members can now update the personal information linked to their Aadhaar-verified Universal Account Number (UAN) without uploading any documents. Members can update details such as their name, date of birth, gender, nationality, parents’ names, marital status, spouse’s name, date of joining, and date of leaving the job—without any documents, as long as their UAN is verified with Aadhaar. Through this article, we will share all the details regarding this matter.
Delay of Up to 28 Days Will End
Earlier, members had to get approval from their employers to update their profiles, which caused delays of up to 28 days. According to EPFO, about 45% of the total 8 lakh correction requests received in FY 2024-25 can now be approved by the members themselves without needing approval from the employer or EPFO.
However, if the UAN was issued before October 1, 2017, any profile update will still require employer approval. Members must link their Aadhaar and PAN to update or withdraw funds from their EPF account. If there is a mismatch between EPF details and Aadhaar, approval may be delayed. Such issues can take a few weeks to resolve, depending on the employer and EPFO’s approval process.
