EPFO Profile Update: The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has allowed members with an Aadhaar-linked Universal Account Number (UAN) to change important personal details such as name, date of birth, and more without uploading any documents. If the UAN has already been verified through Aadhaar, subscribers can update their name, date of birth, gender, nationality, father’s/mother’s name, marital status, spouse’s name, date of joining, and date of leaving the membership without needing to upload any documents.

Who Can Avail of This Facility?

EPFO has stated that this facility is available only to members whose UAN is linked and verified with Aadhaar. The purpose of this process is to reduce complaints and quickly settle pending requests. Previously, verification from the employer was required for changes, which took about 20 to 28 days. Now, with this new facility, members can easily update their details, making the process faster and more convenient.

What is a UAN Number?

A UAN (Universal Account Number) is a 12-digit number used to monitor the PF account. UAN is required for any change, including checking the balance in the PF account. To avail the benefits of the Employment Linked Incentive Scheme, UAN activation and bank account must be linked with Aadhaar.

Linking Aadhaar and PAN with EPF Account

According to the rules, it is mandatory to link Aadhaar and PAN with your EPF account. If there are discrepancies between the details in your EPF account and Aadhaar, it may cause delays. The time to update EPF account details depends on your employer and how long it takes the EPFO to process the changes.

Steps to Update Your EPFO Profile

  • Visit the official EPF website: www.epfindia.gov.in.
  • Log in to the member portal by entering your UAN, password, and captcha code.
  • Select the Manage option from the menu at the top.
  • Choose the Modify Basic Detail option.
  • Enter your personal information as per your Aadhaar card and submit.
  • You can track the status of your profile update by using the Track Request option under Lost.

Important Change Effective from January 1, 2025

At the start of 2025, EPFO made a major change for pensioners. Now, account holders can withdraw their money from any bank across the country.
