The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made changes to simplify online transfer claims in certain cases. These changes aim to make the PF transfer process easier, reduce delays, and improve efficiency. This step by EPFO is expected to provide great relief to employees who switch jobs. The transfer process can now be completed with the help of Aadhaar and other necessary documents.
EPFO regularly updates its rules to ensure that members receive the best possible benefits. As part of these updates, EPFO has simplified the transfer rules. Employees can now transfer their EPF accounts on their own. Under this new rule, the process of transferring Provident Fund through the old or new employer when changing jobs has been removed. This makes transferring PF accounts much simpler for employees.
Benefits of the New EPFO Transfer Process
1. Faster Transfers:
The transfer process will be quicker, as employer intervention will no longer be needed in some cases.
2. Easy Management:
Members can now transfer their EPF accounts directly through the EPFO portal.
3. Improved Transparency:
The simplified process will make things clearer and reduce reliance on employers.
4. No Employer Intervention:
For member IDs linked to Universal Account Numbers (UAN) and Aadhaar issued after October 1, 2017, no employer intervention will be required. The same applies to transfers between UANs linked to multiple member IDs after October 1, 2017, as long as they are connected to the same Aadhaar number.
Which Accounts Can Be Transferred?
1. For Accounts Linked to UAN and Aadhaar Before October 1, 2017:
Both accounts must have the same name, date of birth, and gender for a smooth transfer.
2. For Transfers Between Multiple UANs:
Transfers can be done between member IDs linked to different UANs, provided at least one UAN was issued before October 1, 2017, and is linked to the same Aadhaar. The name, date of birth, and gender must match in all member IDs.
