Government Subsidy: To enhance irrigation facilities for farmers, various initiatives are being implemented by both the central and state governments, yielding significant benefits. Currently, the state government is facilitating the installation of tube wells in agricultural fields.

Subsidy ranging from 50% to 80%

Notably, farmers can receive a subsidy ranging from 50% to 80% for the installation of these tube wells, allowing them to access irrigation at a reduced cost. Farmers interested in this opportunity can apply under the State Government’s Tube Well Scheme, which has recently opened its application process for 2025.

This scheme offers farmers the chance to install tube wells with financial assistance. The subsidies provided vary based on specific categories, with a maximum grant of Rs 91,200 available to eligible farmers. Consequently, farmers can benefit from government subsidies to install tube wells at a significantly lower expense.

Farmers from Bihar can get more benefits

The tube well scheme is particularly advantageous for farmers in Bihar, as the state government is currently offering subsidies for tube well installations. The benefits of this initiative will be extended to areas included in the micro irrigation scheme, especially where farmers are engaged in the cultivation of makhana. As a result, the primary beneficiaries will be farmers from districts such as Madhubani, Purnia, Supaul, Darbhanga, Araria, Katihar, Khagaria, Saharsa, and Kishanganj. Both rayat farmers, who cultivate their own land, and non-rayat farmers, who farm on land owned by others, are eligible to participate in this scheme. To qualify for the benefits, farmers must possess a minimum of 0.5 acres of land.
