EPFO UAN Recovery: If you are a salaried employee in a large private firm, you must have a PF account. Every PF account holder has a UAN number, which is very useful. The UAN (Universal Account Number) is important for all EPFO members. If you don’t know your UAN number, you won’t be able to access your PF account. In such cases, your important work may be delayed or stuck.

What is UAN?

UAN stands for Universal Account Number, which is allotted by EPFO. The UAN acts as an umbrella for the multiple Member IDs assigned to an individual by different employers. The purpose is to link multiple Member Identification Numbers (Member IDs) to a single UAN. This allows the member to view details of all the Member IDs linked to it. If a member already has a UAN, they need to provide it when joining a new employer. This enables the employer to link the new Member ID to the existing UAN.

Who allocates the UAN?

The Universal Account Number (UAN) is allotted by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO).
