Who is Eligible for Free LPG Cylinders

In most states, the benefit of free LPG cylinders is limited to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). PMUY was launched in 2016 to provide clean cooking fuel to poor households. The scheme has been successful in connecting millions of families to LPG connections.

Subsidized LPG Cylinders for PMUY Beneficiaries

PMUY beneficiaries enjoy a subsidy of ₹300 per 14.2 kg LPG cylinder compared to general customers. The government has extended this subsidy until March 2025, ensuring continued affordability for eligible households.
