PM Jan Dhan Yojana Update: The Narendra Modi-led government has launched over 200 schemes for the poor in the last 10 years, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Harsh Malhotra, stated on Friday. According to PTI, Malhotra highlighted that the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) has addressed one of the biggest challenges for the poor by integrating them into the banking ecosystem. There are over 54 crore accounts with total deposits of approximately Rs 2.39 lakh crore. This marks a more than 15-fold increase since the launch of the Jan Dhan Yojana.

Jan Dhan Yojana Achieves Remarkable Success

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) has succeeded in helping rural and semi-urban areas and women. About 66% of the accounts belong to these groups. Banks have issued 37.02 crore RuPay cards to PMJDY account holders, increasing the average deposit per account. By August 14, 2024, the average deposit in Jan Dhan accounts was Rs 4,352.

25 Crore People Escaped Poverty in 10 Years

The government has reduced poverty by lifting 25 crore people out of it in the past decade. Minister Harsh Malhotra said Delhi has 65 lakh PMJDY accounts holding deposits of Rs 3,114 crore and 50 lakh RuPay card beneficiaries. He added that the PMJDY and JAM trinity improved financial inclusion, expanded access to banking, increased transparency, and reduced corruption.

Ayushman Bharat Expands Healthcare Access

By November 30, 2024, the Ayushman Bharat scheme had issued 36 crore Ayushman cards across India. It has 29,929 empanelled hospitals, including 13,222 private hospitals, improving healthcare for millions.

  5. Submit: Submit the form online or at the nearest branch.
  6. Verification: After verification, the account is activated, and you get a RuPay card.
