PM Kusum Yojana: A significant opportunity has arisen for farmers in the district. The Horticulture Department is launching a new initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM Kusum) scheme aimed at addressing the irrigation challenges faced by farmers through the utilization of solar energy.
Subsidies for stand-alone solar power pump systems
This initiative will provide subsidies for stand-alone solar power pump systems, thereby reducing irrigation costs for farmers. Specifically, farmers will receive a 60 percent subsidy on pumps with capacities of 3.00, 5.00, 7.50, and 10.00 HP. The subsidy amounts will be Rs. 1.14 lakh for the 3.00 HP pump, Rs. 1.76 lakh for the 5.00 HP pump, and Rs. 2.38 lakh for both the 7.50 and 10.00 HP pumps.
Additionally, farmers belonging to the SC and ST categories will be eligible for an extra subsidy of Rs. 0.45 lakh per pump. Applications will be accepted online, and processing will occur on a first-come, first-served basis. A total of 32 firms have been authorized at the state level, and farmers can select from the Kisan Sathi Portal or the Kisan Suvidha App.
How to apply
To apply, farmers must present their Aadhar Card, a certified copy of their land jamabandi (not older than six months), proof of ownership of at least 0.4 hectares of land, and an affidavit confirming the absence of an irrigation water source and agricultural electricity connection.
According to media reports, Chittorgarh district has been assigned a target of one thousand pumps, with approvals for 755 already issued and 434 pumps installed at farmers’ locations. Currently, there are no pending applications.
