Agricultural Subsidy for Farmers: The Modi government is very kind to farmers now. The central government is running many schemes for the farmers of India, and crores of farmers are taking advantage of these schemes. The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is being run by the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The 18th instalment has been released under this scheme so far. Under the PM Kisan Yojana, the government transfers Rs 6000 every year to the accounts of poor farmers. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has now indicated that the money will be given to fertilizer-seed subsidy through DBT.

On January 27, the Union Agriculture Minister said that the government is trying to bring many changes to make agriculture easier. He indicated that subsidy distribution for fertilizer (manure), agricultural equipment, and seeds could be considered through DBT.

How much of a subsidy is being given to urea?

According to Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the cost of fertilizer subsidy given by the central government is currently Rs 2 lakh crore. For a bag of urea, which costs Rs 2400, farmers have to pay Rs 265. This subsidy goes to the company. Fertilizer is also used for other needs. If there is a reliable system, then a subsidy can be given to the farmers directly in their account.

The Union Minister said that PM Kisan Samman Nidhi’s expenditure is about Rs 60,000 crore. If fertilizer subsidy is given through DBT, the bank account will increase further. He also told that the government is deliberating on giving transportation cost for agricultural produce.

He said that our effort is to make farming more manageable for the farmers. It is being told that in Budget 2025, the government can increase the amount of PM Kisan from Rs 6000 to Rs 12000. The 19th instalment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi can be released soon. However, it is yet to be officially announced.
