The Govardhan Organic Fertilizer Scheme has been launched to support farmers who produce and use organic fertilizers made from animal dung. Under this scheme, farmers will receive a 50% subsidy or up to ₹10,000 to set up vermicompost units in their fields. The scheme aims to benefit 18,900 farmers in the state.
The initiative focuses on reducing the harmful effects of chemical farming and improving soil fertility. To apply for the subsidy, farmers can submit applications online through the Raj Kisan Sathi Portal or at the nearest e-Mitra centre. The subsidy will be provided to over 550 farmers in Sikar district alone.
Main Objective of the Govardhan Organic Fertilizer Scheme
The primary goal of the Govardhan Organic Fertilizer Scheme is to promote organic farming in Rajasthan by encouraging farmers to produce organic fertilizers from animal waste. The Rajasthan government will offer financial assistance to farmers who want to set up vermicompost units.
Eligibility and Unit Specifications
Farmers must construct a unit that is 20 feet long, 3 feet wide, and 2.5 feet deep in their fields. A total of 50 farmers from each village will be selected to receive assistance. The scheme aims to provide financial support to over 500 farmers in Sikar alone.
Target Beneficiaries and Expected Impact
The scheme will benefit 18,900 farmers from 378 blocks in Rajasthan. Of these, 12,627 will be from the general category, 3,202 will be SC farmers, and 3,071 will be ST farmers. By promoting organic fertilizer production, the scheme helps farmers not only enhance soil fertility but also increase their income by selling fertilizers to other farmers.
