The central government takes a big step regarding Aadhaar and PAN card links. The deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar has expired. The last date for linking PAN with Aadhaar was June 30, 2023. After this, the government is charging a penalty for linking PAN to Aadhaar. After that, from 1 July 2023, the government is charging a penalty of Rs 1,000 for linking inoperative PAN with Aadhaar.

How to Check PAN-Aadhaar Link Status?

 

Step 1: On the e-filing portal, click on Aadhaar status in the Quick Link section.

 

Step 2: Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number, and click on the link to view Aadhaar status.

 

On successful verification, a message will be displayed regarding your Link Aadhaar status. This will give you information whether your PAN card is linked to Aadhaar or not.

 

How do I find out via SMS?

 

To know the status of PAN card linked to Aadhaar, UIDPAN If your PAN card is linked to Aadhaar, then you will have to click on ‘Aadhaar… is already associated with PAN (number) in the ITD database.’ This message will be found. Otherwise, your PAN card is not linked to Aadhaar.

 

How to pay a fine

Step 1: Go to the e-filing portal home page and click on Link Aadhaar in the Quick Link section. Alternatively, log in to the e-filing portal and click on Link Aadhaar in the profile section.

 

Step 2: Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number.

 

Step 3: Click on continue payment through e-pay tax.

 

Step 4: Enter your PAN and mobile number to get OTP.

 

Step-5: After OTP verification, you will be redirected to the e-pay tax page.

 

Step 6: Click on Proceed on the Income Tax tile.

 

Step-7: Relevant assessment year and type of payment Select other receipts (500) and click Continue.

 

Step-8: Now, the challan will be generated. On the next screen, you have to choose the mode of payment. After choosing the mode of payment, you will be redirected to the bank’s website, where you can make the payment.

 

After paying the fee, you can link your Aadhaar with PAN on the e-filing portal.
