Actually The Gujarat government on Wednesday hiked the Dearness Allowance (DA) of its nearly nine lakh employees and pensioners by 3 per cent. This decision will come into effect from July 1, 2024.

The Finance Department has sanctioned the plan to raise DA to 53 per cent of the basic salary under the Gujarat State Services (Pay Amendment) Rules 2016, up from the current 50 per cent. The decision will advantage more than 9 lakh workers and pensioners.
The government announced in a statement that the payments for the months of July through November will be made in January 2025 together with the December salaries and pensions. All employees of state government and panchayats included in the Seventh Pay Commission, teaching and non-teaching personnel in secondary and higher secondary institutions, as well as staff from aided non-government schools, will gain from this increase.
With appropriate adjustments, this advantage will also extend to primary educators and individuals employed in Panchayats on loan or transfer. Individuals who have received approval for salary adjustments as per the commission.
The proposal indicated that the issue of raising the rate for state government employees and pensioners from the current 50 percent to 53 percent starting July 1, 2024, was being considered by the government. Subsequently, the government has today approved the DA (53% of basic salary).
