Where and How to Get a Cooking Gas Cylinder for Just ₹500?

At the end of August last year, the central government announced a subsidy of ₹200 per cooking gas cylinder for households. The price of cooking gas has remained the same for almost six months, with no changes. However, the central government has recently increased the subsidy for Ujjwala Yojana customers, giving them an additional discount of ₹200.

Telangana Government’s Special Offer

The Telangana government has introduced a new scheme, offering LPG gas cylinders for just ₹500 and providing 200 units of free electricity per month for the state’s residents.

Recently, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expanded the scope of the ‘Mahalakshmi Yojana’ in Telangana. On February 26, he announced that eligible residents would receive a gas cylinder for ₹500 and 200 units of free electricity.

How to Apply for a ₹500 Gas Cylinder?

To avail of this benefit, residents must apply online through the Telangana government’s official portal. Authorities have urged eligible applicants to complete the process as soon as possible. Alternatively, those interested can visit their nearest gas dealer’s office to apply for the scheme.

Political Impact of the Scheme

Political analysts believe that the Telangana Congress government launched this scheme with an eye on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Congress recently came to power in Telangana in December last year and currently enjoys strong public support. Experts suggest that this scheme could be a strategic move to maintain their popularity until the elections.
