Government Scheme for Girls 2025: If we want women to actively participate in the country’s development, we need to empower them. The government understands this and has launched several beneficial schemes for the upliftment of women. In this context, today we will discuss welfare schemes by the central and state governments designed to make every daughter’s dream come true. These schemes aim to ensure that no daughter has to drop out of school due to a lack of money, and no poor father has to worry about his daughter’s marriage. Let’s look at 5 such government schemes created for the upliftment of daughters.

1. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter)

This scheme was launched in Panipat, Haryana, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015. Its main objective is to protect daughters from social evils such as gender bias and to promote awareness about the importance of education for girls across the country.

2. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY)

Under Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, parents can open an account for a girl child below the age of 10 and deposit ₹1,000 annually for 15 years. The amount, which accrues interest at a rate of 7.6% without tax deduction, becomes available at the time of the daughter’s marriage.

3. Balika Samridhi Yojana (BSY)

This scheme aims to improve the social status of girls. Scholarships are awarded to girls living below the poverty line, encouraging them to continue their education and participate in social activities through financial support.

4. Dhanlakshmi Yojana (Pilot Project)

Launched by the Government of India in 2008, this scheme encourages girls to pursue their education. It provides free secondary education to girls up to Class 8 and offers financial support for the birth of a girl child. The program was implemented to improve the sex ratio.

5. Madhya Pradesh Ladli Laxmi Yojana

Introduced in 2006, this scheme aims to improve the condition of women and girls in Madhya Pradesh. Under this initiative, women receive ₹6,000 annually. Girls are also provided financial assistance, with ₹2,000 given in Class 6 and ₹4,000 in Class 9, supporting their education and overall development.
