If the cost of illness becomes a burden on your pocket, then there is relief news for you. The government is considering doubling the number of beneficiaries under its ambitious Ayushman Bharat Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in the next 3 years.

Initially, all people above the age of 70 will be brought under its purview and the insurance coverage will be increased to Rs 10 lakh annually.

That is, now under this scheme (Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana), free treatment up to Rs 10 lakh will be available instead of Rs 5 lakh in a year.

It is expected that it will be announced in the budget to be presented on July 23. At present, crores of people will benefit from this and if you do not have an Ayushman card yet, then you can easily get it made.

The news agency has received this information from government sources, according to which, according to the estimate prepared by the National Health Authority, if the scheme is approved, then an additional expenditure of Rs 12076 crore will be incurred on the government treasury every year.

According to sources, there is a plan to double the beneficiary base under AB-PMJAY in the next 3 years, after which more than two-thirds of the country’s population will get health coverage.

It is proposed to double the coverage amount limit from the current Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.

Benefits to those above 70 years of age

Initially, all people above the age of 70 will be brought under its purview. About 12 crore families have been added under the Ayushman scheme across the country.

Now every citizen above 70 years of age will be included in it. This will increase the number of beneficiaries by 4 to 5 crores.

How to get an Ayushman Bharat card

You can get an Ayushman Bharat card online or offline. Here is the information about both the processes.

Online process

Visit the official website of Ayushman Bharat Yojana pmjay.gov.in.

Click on the “Am I eligible?” section.

Select the beneficiary option and verify the mobile number.

Log in by entering the OTP and captcha code.

Click on “Find Beneficiary”.

Select your state and write PMJAY in the scheme.

For ration cards, fill in any one of the information like family ID, Aadhar card, or location rural or location urban.

On giving the information about an Aadhar card or ration card, your family details will appear on the screen.

After this, select the name of the person for whom you want to make an Ayushman card and verify his details.

Select the option of Aadhaar and verify through OTP.

After this, apply.

Select the e-KYC option and enter the OTP received on the Aadhaar number and registered mobile number.

Submit your passport-size photo.

Give information about the mobile number, relation, pin code, state, district, rural or urban, village, etc., and click on submit.

Offline process

Go to your nearest Ayushman Bharat Help Desk.

Submit the required documents to the officials present there, such as – mobile number, ration card, Aadhaar card, residence certificate, passport size photo, voter card, PAN card, etc.
