A lot of people dream of owning their own home. Some folks manage to build their houses all on their own, while others get a helping hand from the government, which brings them the joy of having their own place. For those in need, the central government has the PM Awas Yojana, a program that offers financial support to help them construct a permanent home.
Only those who meet certain criteria can take advantage of the PM Awas Yojana. If you don’t fit the requirements, you won’t be eligible for the benefits. If you’re interested in this government initiative, we’ve got all the details you need right here.
The benefits you receive depend on your income. Launched in 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has already helped thousands of people. The assistance provided varies according to the income levels of applicants, which are outlined below.
Who can apply?
The PM Awas Yojana offers support in three categories: Weaker Sections (EWS), Lower Income Group (LIG), and Middle Income Group (MIG). EWS refers to those with an annual income of less than Rs 3 lakh, who can benefit from the scheme. Additionally, individuals in the lower income group with incomes between Rs 3 to 6 lakh and those in the middle income group earning between Rs 6 lakh to 12 lakh can also access the benefits.
Who doesn’t qualify?
If someone in your family already owns a permanent house, you won’t be eligible for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Also, if you’ve previously benefited from any other government housing program, you won’t be able to take advantage of this one either.
To apply, just head over to the official Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana website if you meet the eligibility criteria. You can also drop by your nearest government bank or an authorized center to submit your application.
