If you’re working and have PF deducted from your paycheck each month, you probably understand how crucial the UAN number is. The EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation) assigns a Universal Account Number (UAN) for every active PF account. This 12-digit number is essential for any PF-related tasks. For instance, if you want to check your EPF balance or update the phone number linked to your account, you’ll need your UAN.
Sometimes, people forget their UAN. If that’s the case for you, don’t stress! There are simple ways to recover it.
You can’t access your PF account without your UAN
This 12-digit UAN is vital for all EPFO members because, without it, you won’t be able to access your PF account. If you need to handle something important regarding your PF account but can’t remember your UAN, you won’t be able to proceed. But don’t worry; there are ways to recover your UAN. Let’s go over how you can find your UAN online.
Here’s how to find your UAN number online:
Step 1: First, head over to the official UAN website at https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/.
Step 2: Look for the Important Links section on the right side and click on “Know your UAN.”
Step 3: Enter your registered mobile number and the captcha code, then hit “Request OTP.”
Step 4: An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile. Enter that OTP and click “Validate OTP.”
Step 5: Next, fill in some details like your full name, date of birth, Aadhar number, or PAN number.
Step 6: Finally, click on “Show My UAN.” Your UAN number will be displayed as soon as you do that.
You can grab your UAN from here and keep it saved somewhere safe. That way, if you forget it again, you won’t have to go through this whole process all over again.
Another way to get your UAN is through SMS. Just text EPFOHO UAN ENG to 7738299899, which is the number provided by EPFO. You’ll get a reply shortly with your UAN number.
