The main issue is that when companies such as Amul raise prices, local dairies follow suit by citing them. Yet, residents of Delhi may experience some alleviation in this area in the near future. In reality, the renowned Nandini Milk from Karnataka is now going to be sold in Delhi too. KMF markets milk and curd with the Nandini brand. Karnataka Milk Federation (KMMF) has maintained milk prices at a lower level compared to Amul. Nandini’s cow’s milk costs 56 rupees per liter. The full cream milk from the company is priced at Rs 61 per liter, while toned milk is available for Rs 55 per liter. The company has set the price of curd at Rs 74 per kg. Referring to Amul, following the rise in June, a one-liter Amul Gold can now be purchased for Rs 68.
The arrival of Nandini is certain to be advantageous for the people of Delhi. To begin with, Nandini milk brand is more affordable than Amul. Furthermore, the entrance of Nandini will have an impact on the market of both Amul and Mother Dairy. There will be a rise in competition among companies, leading to a potential price battle to gain market share. If the people of Delhi enjoy the flavor of Nandini brand products and its sales increase, Amul and Mother Dairy will need to come up with a significant response. They will only have two choices: lower the prices or create a distinctive plan. In each scenario, the ordinary residents of Delhi will reap the rewards. Mother Dairy manages to sell approximately 3.5 million liters of fresh milk daily in the Delhi-National Capital Region. Amul also has a significant presence in the large market of Delhi-NCR. Nandini’s arrival could potentially create problems for both businesses in this scenario. When Amul arrived in Karnataka last year, the rival claimed it was a plot to get rid of Nandini. Amul’s impact on Nandini’s market has led the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) to plan the launch of Nandini in Delhi using a similar strategy. The federation exports milk powder and ghee to 25 countries. Its annual turnover is around Rs 25,000 crore.
