Voter ID is a very important document for Indians. But still, many people don’t have a voter ID. In India, the privilege to cast a vote is given to persons aged 18 years or above. However, to exercise this right, one’s name must be listed in the Electoral Registry. The issuance of a voter ID card depends on the name included in this list. Those who have attained the age of 18 years and want to get a voter ID can apply online sitting at home.

To apply for a voter card, you have to go to the official website or app of the Election Commission. Here you have to upload all the documents online. In this, while applying for a voter card, documents like address proof, copy of bank passbook, 2 passport-size photos, ration card, driving license, passport, rent agreement, electricity bill, water bill, your telephone and gas bill, etc., age certificate, Aadhaar card, and PAN card are required.

 

If you are uploading them at home, first of all, convert your document to PDF, JPG, or JPEG format. After this, you will be able to upload it in PDF, JPG, or JPEG format only. Then follow the steps to apply for voter ID when the document is ready.

How do I apply for a voter ID card?

1. For the application process for online voter ID, first go to the official site https://voters.eci.gov.in/ of the Election Commission.

 

2. Then click on the option of Electors. Then click on the Sign Up button to create an ECI new account.

 

3. After this, fill in the necessary information. Then log in by entering your registered mobile number, password, and captcha code, and after that, you have to click on the option of Form 6.

 

4. Now fill in all the necessary information, like your name, father, husband, wife, address, and Aadhaar card number. Submit the Aadhaar card for proof of address and identity proof.

 

5. After that, enter the captcha code, then click on the preview and submit button.

 

6. Now you will have a pop-up on the screen in front of you, in which click on S, then you have to fill out your online form and submit the form.

 

7. After the verification is complete, after a few days, the voter ID will be sent to the address given by you.
