Big news for PAN Card holder’s. The Income Tax Department has rolled out PAN 2.0 to help stop the misuse of PAN cards. With this new initiative, you can get a fresh PAN card that comes with a QR code. The e-PAN is free, but if you want a physical PAN card, there’s a fee of Rs 50. Let’s dive into how you can apply online for a new PAN card and what documents you’ll need.
How to apply for e-PAN through NSDL:
1. Head over to the NSDL e-PAN portal at https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/requestAndDownloadEPAN.html.
2. Fill in your PAN, Aadhaar card details (if you’re an individual), and your date of birth.
3. Double-check your info and pick how you want to receive a one-time password (OTP).
4. Enter the OTP within 10 minutes to keep going.
5. You can request this service for free up to three times within 30 days of getting your PAN. After that, it’ll cost you Rs 8.26, including GST.
6. Once your payment is successful, your e-PAN will be sent to your registered email within 30 minutes.

Updating Your PAN Card
If you already have a PAN, you can update or correct details like your email, mobile number, address, name, and date of birth without any extra charges. Until the PAN 2.0 project is fully launched, you can use the online service to update your email, mobile number, and address for free by visiting the provided URL.
