PAN card is an important document used for financial transactions, tax filing, and various government functions in India. The government has now launched PAN 2.0 to make it more secure and technologically advanced. This new version includes a feature like a QR code, which keeps the user’s personal information secure and digitally accessible. You can update your PAN card for just 50 rupees and make it more modern.

The PAN card serves as a crucial document for financial transactions, tax submissions, and various governmental processes in India. The government has introduced PAN 2.0 to enhance its security and technological capabilities. This updated version features a QR code that safeguards the user’s personal data while ensuring it remains digitally accessible. Updating your PAN card is available for a nominal fee of 50 rupees, allowing for a more contemporary design.

The introduction of PAN 2.0 incorporates a QR code into the PAN card. This QR code securely encodes the user’s name, date of birth, and PAN number in a digital format, making the information readily available upon scanning. This enhancement not only bolsters security but also increases the card’s utility in today’s digital landscape.

Significance of the QR Code

The QR Code (Quick Response Code) represents a technological advancement that encodes data in a barcode format. This data is encrypted, ensuring confidentiality and minimizing the risk of tampering. The integration of a QR code into the PAN card significantly enhances the security of the user’s information.

Issuers of the New PAN Card

In India, two organizations are authorized to issue PAN cards: 1. Protean e-Governance (previously known as NSDL) and 2. UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTIITSL). The details on the reverse side of the PAN card will indicate which entity issued it. Based on this information, you should proceed to the appropriate website to complete your process.

Updating a PAN Card Issued by Protean

For those whose PAN card is issued by Protean e-Governance, the update process is straightforward. Begin by visiting the Protean website and entering your PAN number, Aadhaar number (if applicable), and date of birth. Next, verify the information requested in the form.

Subsequently, a one-time password (OTP) will be sent to your registered mobile number or email, which must be confirmed before proceeding to pay the online fee of 50 rupees. This fee covers the cost of printing the new PAN card. Within 24 hours of payment, you will receive an option to download your updated PAN card.

Process of PAN card issued by UTIITSL

If your PAN card is issued by UTIITSL, the process is slightly different. However, it is also easy. First, visit the UTIITSL website and fill in your PAN number, date of birth, and captcha code. Here, you will also receive an OTP on your registered mobile or email, which must be verified after which a payment of 50 rupees will be required. Once the payment is completed, your new PAN card will be sent to your email.
