Big news for Aadhaar Card holders. Aadhaar Card is a crucial document that holds your personal details like your name, address, date of birth, and biometric information (fingerprints and iris scans). It’s super important to protect this info from being misused. These days, you need your Aadhaar for just about everything, which makes it a bit tricky to keep it secure. There have been some fraud cases linked to Aadhaar, raising the question of how to safeguard it.

One effective way to enhance the security of your Aadhaar Card is by using the Biometric Lock feature. UIDAI offers this option to help you protect your biometric data, like fingerprints and iris scans. When you activate the biometric lock, no one can use your Aadhaar biometrics for authentication.

Here’s how to lock your Aadhaar biometrics:

1. Head over to the official Aadhaar website (https://resident.uidai.gov.in/bio-lock).

2. Once there, you’ll see a checkbox indicating that your biometrics won’t be authenticated until you unlock them. Go ahead and check that box.

3. Next, click on Lock/Unlock Biometrics, and a new page will pop up.

4. On this page, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and fill in the captcha code, then hit Send OTP.

5. You’ll receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter that and click Submit.

6. After entering the OTP, you’ll have the option to lock or unlock your biometric data. Choose the option you prefer.

7. By following these steps, you can effectively lock your Aadhaar biometric data and protect it from misuse.
