Passport Service: In a significant development for residents of Meerut, Member of Parliament Arun Govil has announced the upcoming expansion of passport services in the region. This initiative is set to enhance the accessibility and efficiency of passport processing for local citizens. As part of this expansion, four additional counters will be established at the Meerut Passport Seva Kendra, increasing the total number of counters from two to six.
MP Govil has been proactive in advocating for this enhancement, engaging in discussions with Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. During these discussions, he highlighted the pressing need to upgrade the existing Meerut Post Office Passport Center to a Regional Passport Center. Currently, the Meerut Passport Center is limited in its capacity, processing only 80 applications per day. This limitation has resulted in extended waiting times for residents of Meerut and the surrounding districts who are in need of passport services.
In response to MP Govil’s appeal, the central government has taken steps to improve the facility by approving the addition of four new counters. This expansion is expected to significantly expedite the application process, thereby improving service delivery for the public. The MP underscored that his request to elevate the passport center to a regional facility was driven by a commitment to the convenience and needs of the local population.
Expressing his satisfaction with the initial approval for the new counters, MP Govil reiterated his dedication to furthering this initiative. He remains committed to ensuring that the Meerut passport center evolves into a fully operational regional passport center. This upgrade will not only alleviate the burden on local residents but also eliminate the need for them to travel to distant cities for passport-related services, making the process more accessible and efficient for everyone in the region.
