Hyundai has introduced its flagship model for electric vehicles, the Hyundai Ioniq 9. The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is a three-row SUV, which will be available for sale in Korea and the USA in the first half of 2025. After that, it will be introduced in European and other markets. It has been launched with many advanced features and great looks. Let’s take a look at what makes the Ioniq 9 special.
Hyundai Ioniq 9: Battery and Range
Hyundai’s new range-topping EV is equipped with a 110.3 kWh battery pack, offering a range of up to 620 km on a full charge. It features 19-inch wheels and is based on Hyundai’s E-GMP architecture. With a 350 kW charger, the Ioniq 9 can charge from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes. The vehicle supports both 400V and 800V charging capacities and comes with a vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature, allowing the SUV to charge another electrical device. The Ioniq 9 is offered in two trims: Long-Range (LR) and Performance, with RWD and AWD options. AWD is standard on the LR RWD variant.
Performance:
- The LR RWD variant produces 218 hp and 350 Nm of peak torque. It accelerates from 0-100 kph in 9.4 seconds and from 80-120 kph in 6.8 seconds.
- The LR AWD variant produces 95 hp and 255 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-100 kph in 6.7 seconds and from 80-120 kph in 4.8 seconds.
- The Performance trim, which delivers 218 hp, can accelerate from 0-100 kph in 5.2 seconds and from 80-120 kph in 3.4 seconds.
Hyundai Ioniq 9: Interior and Features
The Ioniq 9 offers a luxurious interior, with options for six-seat and seven-seat configurations. The seats in the first two rows feature a massage function, while the second-row seats can rotate up to 180 degrees. It includes the Hyundai Universal Island 2.0, an adjustable console with an armrest accessible from the second row, and two storage trays with capacities of 5.6 litres and 12.6 litres.
Space and Storage:
The Ioniq 9 offers 620 litres of luggage space in the boot, expanding to 1,323 litres when the third row is folded.
It is equipped with a panoramic sunroof, a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 12-inch digital instrument cluster with a panoramic curved display.

Comfort and Entertainment:
The vehicle features ambient lighting, roof-mounted air vents, multi-zone climate control, and 100W USB-C ports in all three rows. It also comes with an 8-speaker sound system and an optional 14-speaker Bose system, along with synthesized driving sound.

The Ioniq 9 is equipped with 10 airbags and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features for enhanced passenger safety. It also includes seat belt pre-tensioners and load limiters for third-row passengers.

Hyundai Ioniq 9: Exterior
This large SUV measures 5,060mm in length, 1,980mm in width, and 1,790mm in height, with a 3,130mm wheelbase. It is rated to tow up to 2,500 kg and features a trailer mode that maintains a fixed 50:50 front-to-rear torque distribution.
Off-road and Design Features:
- The Ioniq 9 comes with Dynamic Torque Vectoring, Lateral Wind Stability Control, and Terrain Traction Control for off-road capability.
- It also offers digital side mirrors, replacing the traditional outside rear-view mirrors, with a 7-inch OLED display for features such as zoom-out and directions.
Despite its size, the Ioniq 9 boasts a sleek design with a rounded front end and a straight tailgate. The LED headlights feature parametric pixels, and the vehicle also gets the full combination of tail lights and 19-inch wheels.
