Putting an end to rumors regarding a shift in the retirement age, the government has stated that there is no plan being considered to alter the retirement age for employees. In response to a query in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Personnel Minister Jitendra Singh stated that the current retirement age is 60 years. 

 

He additionally stated that the government is proactively developing policies and initiatives to offer job opportunities in civil services for the youth and to timely fill vacancies via Rozgar Mela.

Jitendra Singh further stated that the government is consistently involved in creating policies, programs, and other initiatives to ensure that youth are given employment opportunities in civil services in line with government roles. Moreover, central ministries and departments receive instructions periodically to promptly fill vacant positions within a specified timeframe.

 

Job fairs are conducted in mission mode to address job openings across all Central Government Ministries, Departments, Central Public Sector Undertakings, Autonomous Bodies, and institutions within the Education and Health sectors. This creates job prospects for young individuals in civil services.

 

What did the government say about the subsidy given to the elderly in the railways?

 

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, when asked about the possibility of restoring the subsidy already given to senior citizens and accredited journalists, said that the total subsidy given by the Government of India to passengers is Rs 56,993 crore. For every Rs 100 of the travel service, the price is charged at Rs 54. A subsidy of 46 per cent is given to all classes of passengers.
