It’s common to forget where important documents are stored. However, if you can’t locate your PAN card, it can lead to several inconveniences. But there’s no need to stress! The good news is that getting a replacement is quite simple. You can easily apply for a duplicate PAN card online.
A PAN card serves as a crucial form of identification. Whether you’re looking to obtain a gas connection or open a new bank account, having a PAN card is essential. If you’ve lost yours and need to apply for a duplicate, here’s a straightforward guide to help you through the process.
How to reissue a PAN card:
1. Start by visiting the official NSDL website. You’ll need to input your PAN card number, your 10-digit Aadhaar number, and your date of birth.
2. Next, agree to the terms and conditions (T&C), complete the captcha, and submit your information.
3. Your PAN card details will be displayed on the screen. To continue, select the option to order a new PAN card and enter your PIN number.
4. Confirm your address and make the payment. The fee for this service is Rs 50. Once you’ve completed these steps, your duplicate PAN card will be sent to your registered address within a few days.
For those who may not be aware, a PAN card is a vital document. If you haven’t linked your PAN number to your bank account and your savings account earns interest of Rs 10,000 or more in a year, your bank will deduct 30% TDS instead of the usual 10%. Even if you end up paying more TDS, you won’t be able to claim it back. So, if you’ve lost your PAN card, make sure to apply for a replacement online as soon as possible.
