PAN Card for Child: In contemporary society, numerous individuals begin to strategize for their children’s future at an early age. If you intend to invest in your child’s name, establish a bank account under their name, or designate them as a nominee in your investments, obtaining a PAN card for the child may be necessary.
Additionally, if your child generates income independently, a PAN card will also be required. Since minors are not permitted to apply for a PAN card on their own, their parents or legal guardians must submit the application on their behalf. This process can be completed both online and offline. If you wish to obtain a PAN card for your child, the following outlines the procedure.
How to apply for a PAN card online
To secure a PAN card for a child, the application must be made by their parents or legal guardians. Initially, they should visit the NSDL website. From there, it is essential to complete Form 49A. Carefully review all instructions before filling out the form, ensuring that all personal details are accurately provided according to the appropriate category.
Next, upload the minor’s age certificate along with other required documents, including a photograph of the parents. During this process, only the parents’ signatures should be uploaded. After paying the fee of Rs 107, submit the form. You will receive a receipt number, which can be used to track the application status. Following the application, you will receive an email notification, and the PAN card will be delivered to you within 15 days after verification.
How to apply offline
For those who prefer to apply offline for their child’s PAN card, the first step is to download Form 49A from the official website and complete it. Subsequently, attach two photographs of the child along with all necessary documents and submit the form to the nearest NSDL office, accompanied by the applicable fee. Upon verification, the PAN card will be dispatched to the specified address.
