Delhi’s Food Supplies Minister Imran Hussain directed to issue ration cards to migrant laborers based on their eligibility. He directed the department to expedite the matter on priority and said that, keeping in mind the interests of the migrant laborers, they should be issued ration cards without any delay, according to their eligibility and prescribed procedure.
Gets Free Ration
Imran Hussain was reviewing the distribution of free rations under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the One Nation, One Ration Card (ONORC) scheme in collaboration with the Special Commissioner and Assistant Commissioners of the Food and Supplies Department to ensure transparency in the public distribution system in Delhi.
Ration distribution already started in November month
During the meeting, the Food and Supplies Minister was informed that ration distribution to ration beneficiaries under NFSA for November 2024 has been started from November 1. So far, about 50 percent of the ration quota has been distributed to the beneficiaries. The process has already started. Many people already get free rations.
Along with this, in addition to the ration beneficiaries covered under the National Food Security Act, One Nation One Ration Card beneficiaries are also being given free ration as per eligibility for November 2024.
Ration will be available conveniently with ration cards of other states
The minister said that adequate ration is available in Delhi under ration portability ONORC. Not only that, migrant people living in Delhi can get rations conveniently from ration cards of other states through ONORC.
