To achieve this, it has set a target to benefit 10 million households by 2027 under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Scheme.

In Parliament on December 3, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power Shripad Naik provided details that the government has received a total of 1.45 lakh registrations, with installation completed in 6.34 lakh homes.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, an expenditure of Rs 75,021 crore is planned by FY27, resulting in 1 crore rooftop solar setups. In a written response in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister Shripad Naik stated that there have been 1.45 crore registrations, 26.38 lakh applications, and 6.34 lakh rooftop solar installations recorded on the national portal. He stated that subsidies have been provided to 3.66 lakh applicants and are being issued consistently within 15-21 days.
Gujarat possesses the largest quantity of solar power plants in the nation
As per official statistics, Gujarat has established the highest number of solar power plants at 2,86,545 under the program, with Maharashtra following at 1,26,344 and Uttar Pradesh at 53,423. Naik stated that the ministry is working with all parties involved, including REC, DISCOMs, and vendors, to tackle any issues that might arise in effectively executing the scheme.
How to apply?
1. First of all, register in the portal. After that, select your state. Select the electricity distribution company.
2. After that, enter the electricity consumer number. Enter your mobile number and email. Follow the directions given in the portal.
3. Login with consumer number and mobile number. Apply for rooftop solar according to the form.
4. Wait for feasibility approval from the discom. Once you get the feasibility approval, get the plant installed by any registered vendor in your discom.
5. Once the installation is complete, submit the plant details and apply for a net meter.
6. After the installation of the net meter and inspection by the discoms, they will generate the commissioning certificate from the portal.
7. Once you get the commissioning report. Bank account details and a cancelled cheque through the portal
8. Make a deposit. You will receive your subsidy in your bank account within 30 days.
