This scheme is specifically designed for farmers who cultivate vegetables, fruits, and spices. Under this scheme, farmers will have to pay only a 2.5% premium amount per acre, which is Rs 750 for vegetables and spices and Rs 1,000 per acre for fruits.

This scheme is designed specifically for farmers growing vegetables, fruits, and spices. Objective and Benefits of the Scheme

The main goal of the Mukhyamantri Horticulture Insurance Scheme is to offer protection to farmers from losses caused by natural disasters, including hailstorms, floods, frost, extreme temperature fluctuations, thunderstorms, and fire. This scheme provides financial assistance to farmers, helping them manage the financial crisis during such events.

Crops Covered Under the Scheme

The scheme covers 46 types of crops, including vegetables, fruits, and spices. Some of the covered vegetables are:

Arbi, ladyfinger, bitter gourd, bottle gourd, eggplant, cabbage, capsicum, carrot, chili, cucumber, melon, onion, peas, potato, pumpkin, radish, ridge gourd, tinda, zucchini, tomato, and watermelon.

The fruits covered include:

Amla, plum, sapota, dates, dragon fruit, figs, grapes, guava, jamun, kinnu, lemon, lime, litchi, malta, orange, mango, peach, pear, aloo bukhara, pomegranate, and strawberry. Spices like turmeric and garlic are also covered.

Crops Covered in Zaid Rabi Season

During the Zaid Rabi season, farmers can insure crops like bhindi, bottle gourd, bitter gourd, eggplant, chili, capsicum, melon, watermelon, cucumber, tinda, ridge gourd, pumpkin, cucumber, and arbi. Fruits such as kinnu, pomegranate, malta, lime, lemon, orange, and amla can also be insured in March.

Insurance Amount and Premium

The insurance amount for vegetables and spices is Rs 30,000 per acre, while for fruits, it is Rs 40,000 per acre. Farmers are required to pay a 2.5% premium for the coverage—Rs 750 for vegetables and spices and Rs 1,000 for fruits. This premium is very affordable for farmers.

Compensation Based on Crop Loss

The compensation amount is determined based on the percentage of crop loss:

  • 0 to 25% Loss: No compensation.
  • 26 to 50% Loss: Farmers will receive 50% compensation. Rs 15,000 for vegetables and spices, and Rs 20,000 for fruits per acre.
  • 51 to 75% Loss: Farmers will receive 75% compensation. Rs 22,500 for vegetables and spices, and Rs 30,000 for fruits per acre.
  • More than 75% Loss: Farmers will receive 100% compensation. Rs 30,000 for vegetables and spices, and Rs 40,000 for fruits per acre.

Registration and Application Process

To avail the benefits of this scheme, farmers must register. The registration period for Rabi Zaid is from January 15 to March 15. Farmers can apply online through the portal
