Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) Update: The government has agreed with the postal department regarding the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY), which was launched to promote women’s empowerment. Under this scheme, the Rajasthan government will invest ₹30,000 as assistance into the accounts of eligible girls. Sukanya Samriddhi accounts are opened in post offices for girls below 10 years of age.

Half of the amount will be used to create a 5-year fixed deposit (FD) in the name of the girls, which will be renewed for the next five years. The parents of eligible girls under the scheme must obtain a certificate from the state government’s health department. Once this is done, the benefits of the scheme can be accessed by contacting the post office.

Insurance in the Name of Parents

The Sukanya Samriddhi (SSY) account is opened with zero balance. Out of the ₹30,000 provided by the state government, ₹15,000 will be invested in a fixed deposit (FD). In addition, parents will receive insurance coverage worth ₹1,000. The premium for the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana is currently ₹20 per year. If any parent fails to pay the ₹20 annual premium, the amount will be deducted from the ₹1,000 insurance coverage.
