Global Navigation Satellite System: The auto industry in India is experiencing new developments every day. This coincides with a rise in toll collection. Now, the Fastag era is about to come to an end. However, the government has not yet officially shared any information about this.
But, according to media reports, now the government is trying to bring Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has also mentioned GNSS. Reports indicate that the testing phase of this system is currently underway. India will discontinue the old toll technology once the new system arrives.

What is Global Navigation Satellite System?
GNSS will be based on navigation satellite system. It will have a satellite based unit, which will be installed in people’s vehicles. With the help of the system, officials will be able to easily track when the car has used the toll highway. That is, as soon as the vehicle leaves the toll road, the system will calculate the toll road’s usage and deduct the amount automatically.
The best thing about the GNSS system is that with its help, passengers will pay only for the distance they have travelled. With its help, passengers will also be able to find out the amount of toll and will be able to make payment accordingly. Traditional toll booths will disappear with the arrival of this technology.

When will GNSS come to India
At present, the date has not been announced by the government regarding this, but its testing is going on on two major highways of the country. These include Bengaluru-Mysore National Highway (NH-257) in Karnataka and Panipat-Hisar National Highway (NH-709) in Haryana. We will implement it once we receive the green signal.
