Good news for Ration Card holders. Now you will not have to stand in long queues for government ration, you will get food grains from ATM. Yes you’ve heard it right. The Supply Office has successfully set up four Green Grain ATMs across the district.

Each Green ATM can dispense up to 30 quintals of wheat and rice daily, ensuring accurate measurements with no complaints about short weighing. The ATMs are fully computerized, providing complete information as soon as the ration card number is entered.

These four Green ATMs have been installed in Dehradun, Rishikesh, Sahaspur, and Vikasnagar. The trial phase was implemented to ensure smooth ration distribution, and during this period, ration sellers received training. With the trial now complete, the training has also wrapped up, and the Green ATMs are ready for official operation.

DSO KK Aggarwal mentioned that the ATMs will be officially launched at all locations, with the one in Sahaspur set to start soon. He noted that each ATM can distribute five quintals of ration per hour, compared to the three hours it takes to distribute one quintal manually. He also indicated that more Green ATMs will be installed in other shops as needed.

Here’s how the Green ATM operates:

1. Everything in the Green ATM is run by computers.

2. Once you enter your ration card number from the National Food Security, Antyodaya, or State Food Security, all the necessary info pops up.

3. The ATM also lets you choose how much wheat and rice you want based on the specific scheme.

4. When you select a unit in the Green ATM, that exact amount of grains will be dispensed.

5. The grains will be weighed automatically by the machine.

6. After that, consumers will receive their wheat and rice directly from the machine.

If there’s any technical issue with the Green ATM, it’s up to the department to handle repairs. The ration seller is responsible for covering the electricity costs for running the ATM.

Additionally, they need to submit a monthly report to the District Supply Office detailing how much ration has been distributed. This setup is in place because vendors operating Green ATMs tend to earn more than those running regular shops, ensuring smooth payments in the future.
