If you invest in the National Pension System (NPS), then this news is very important for you. The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) is now going to implement the T+0 settlement system for investors. This change means that now the day you contribute to NPS, your money will be invested on the same day.

What will the new rule change

Till now, investment in NPS was done on T+1 basis, that is, the money was invested one day later. But under the new rule, if the trustee bank receives your NPS contribution by 11 am, it will be invested on the same day. This will give investors the benefit of the net asset value (NAV) of the same day, which will increase the benefit of their investment.

How will it benefit

Earlier, only the amount received till 9:30 am was considered valid for investment on the same day. But now the funds received by 11 am will also be invested according to the NAV of the same day. This change has been made to provide more benefits to the investors.

How will the customers get direct benefits

PFRDA has advised the ‘Point of Presence’ (POP), Nodal Office, and NPS Trust for e-NPS to update their systems to the new rules. This will speed up the investment process, which will benefit the customers more than before. Earlier, it took one business day for the invested amount to be processed, but now this process will be faster.

NPS investment is now easier and faster than before

With the implementation of this new rule, investing in NPS will not only become easier but also more effective. If an investor deposits money through D-Remit by 11 am, it will be invested at the NAV of the same day.

Rapidly increasing popularity of investing in NPS

The scope of NPS is continuously increasing. In the financial year 2023-24, 9.47 lakh new subscribers from the non-government sector joined NPS, increasing the total investment amount by 30.5%. By May 2024, the number of NPS subscribers has crossed 1.8 crores. At the same time, 6.62 crore enrollments have been done under Atal Pension Yojana (APY) till June 20, 2024, out of which 1.2 crore enrollments were done only in 2023-24.
