Importantly, your existing PAN card will not be deactivated but will instead be upgraded. Additionally, there will be no charges for getting your PAN card updated under this plan.

Will the New PAN Card Have to Be Linked to an Aadhaar?

Firstly, you do not need to get a new PAN card made. Instead, your existing PAN card will need to be updated. A QR code will be printed on the new card, enabling it to perform several functions. The government aims to make PAN a universal identifier across all digital systems of government organizations. If your PAN card is already linked to Aadhaar, you will not need to link it again. It is important to note that approximately 80 crore people in India have PAN cards, which they use for various financial transactions.
