The commission given to petrol pump dealers by petroleum companies (oil marketing companies) was increased on Friday (1st October 2024). Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ – Indian Oil is happy to announce the revision of the dealer margin after the resolution of the pending matter. Based on PTI reports this revision will be effective from October 30, 2024. According to the news of some media bureaus, the companies have also said that this will not change the prices of retail petrol and diesel.

How much commission is given

According to the news, the companies rather say that, due to the rationalization of freight within the state, the prices of petrol and diesel will decrease in states like Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh. Dealer commission will vary according to the sale and location. However, detailed details about this are not available at the moment. Currently, dealers are paid 0.875 percent of the billed price along with Rs 1,868.14 per kiloliter as commission on petrol. On diesel, it is Rs 1389.35 per kiloliter. Also, a 0.28 percent commission of the billable price is given. It has been said that this will benefit the customer service standards and the employees working at the petrol pump.

The difference in retail selling price will reduce

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said that our effort to provide affordable petrol and diesel consistently across the country has been successful. Indian Oil has worked to rationalize the cost of freight within the state, which will reduce the difference in retail selling prices in different markets within the state. This does not include geographical areas where the model code of conduct is in force. Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri welcomed the move to rationalize freight within the state and said that this will benefit consumers located in remote places (far from petrol and diesel depots of oil marketing companies). As a result, the prices of petrol and diesel will come down in many parts of the country.

The price will decrease here

Puri (Hardeep Singh Puri) gave the example of Kunanpalli and Kalimela in Malkangiri, Odisha. There the price of petrol will be reduced by Rs 4.69 and Rs 4.55 respectively and diesel rates will be reduced by Rs 4.45 and Rs 4.32 respectively. Similarly, in Sukma of Chhattisgarh, the price of petrol will be reduced by Rs 2.09 and the price of diesel will be reduced by Rs 2.02. Prices will also be reduced at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Mizoram. He said that the increase in dealer commission will provide better services to about seven crore citizens coming to petrol pumps for fuel. Also, the fulfillment of this demand pending for the last seven years will benefit the petrol pump dealers and about 10 lakh employees working at more than 83,000 petrol pumps across the country.
