If you are switching jobs, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has a crucial guideline. It states that an individual does not have to obtain a new Universal Account Number (UAN) when they resign from their former job. UAN is a 12-digit code that acts as a unique identifier for your EPF account. It guarantees that your Provident Fund (PF) remains linked to you across various employers.

If you possess several UANs, you must merge all your previous employment information into your current UAN by utilizing the One Member One EPF Account feature on the EPFO portal.

How are you able to accomplish that?

If you possess several UANs, transfer the leftover funds and service information from your previous UAN to your active UAN by filing Form-13 online. If your personal information (like name, birthdate, or gender) is inaccurate or does not correspond with your Aadhaar information in the old UAN, you must update it through your former employer.

After making corrections, associate your UAN with your Aadhaar. If the information is accurate, you can directly connect your UAN to Aadhaar via the eKYC portal. The EPFO has established a cutoff date for employers to enable Aadhaar-linked UAN for their workers by November 30. This activation is essential for accessing services like PF, pension, insurance, and job-related benefits.

Activate your UAN on EPFO portal

Visit the EPFO Member Portal.

Under Link, click on the Activate UAN link.

Enter your UAN, Aadhaar number, name, date of birth, and Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

Make sure that your mobile number is linked to Aadhaar to access the digital services of the EPFO.

Agree to Aadhaar OTP verification and click on Get Adhikar PIN to receive the OTP on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

Enter the OTP to complete the activation process.

After successful activation, a password will be sent to your registered mobile number.

By consolidating your EPF details correctly, you ensure seamless access to your retirement funds without any issues
