The registration process for the PM Internship Scheme began on October 2024, offering more than 90,000 internship opportunities across 24 sectors on the portal. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the scheme while presenting the 2024 budget. The objective is to provide employment opportunities to around 1 crore youth over the next five years. The scheme aims to tackle youth unemployment by training young people and connecting them with companies in need of talent.
Major private companies like Jubilant Foodworks, Maruti Suzuki India, L&T, Muthoot Finance, and Reliance Industries are among the 193 companies posting internship opportunities on the platform.
Internships Across Multiple Sectors
Internships are available in 24 sectors and over 20 areas, including operations management, production, maintenance, and sales. The initiative has gained support from industries such as oil, gas, energy, travel and hospitality, automotive, and banking.
PM Internship Scheme 2024 Portal
The portal allows individuals to access internship opportunities in various sectors through tools like Aadhaar-based registration and biodata generation. This year, the scheme aims to provide over 1.2 lakh internships across 737 districts in 28 states and 8 Union Territories. Top companies are also offering positions that could enhance employment opportunities.
PM Internship Scheme: A Transformational Initiative
According to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, which is managing the scheme, it is a transformational initiative by the government to enhance the skills of youth, thereby increasing their employability.

PM Internship Scheme Stipend
Selected candidates will have the opportunity to intern with top 500 companies in India for one year. Additionally, they will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 5,000 and a one-time grant of Rs 6,000.
PM Internship Scheme 2024 Eligibility Criteria
To apply, candidates must have completed high school or higher secondary school, with a certificate from ITI or a diploma from a Polytechnic Institute. Graduates holding degrees such as BA, BSc, BCom, BCA, BBA, B Pharma, etc., are also eligible.
