Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0: In 2015, the Government of India launched the Prime Minister’s Skill Development Scheme (PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana) to train youth and provide them with employable skills. Now, the fourth edition of this scheme (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0) has arrived. Discussions with 12 Ministries Underway

A senior government official told the Economic Times that the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has started talks with 12 central ministries. These ministries will provide skill training to youth under various government schemes. Some programs have already begun, and talks are continuing with other ministries to provide additional skills training.

The discussions include providing skill training through government programs like the Vibrant Village Program from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Vikalp (VIKALP) from the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the Semiconductor Mission from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and Green Hydrogen & PM Surya Ghar Yojana from the Ministry of Renewable Energy. Depending on the skills, youth will also receive short training courses or certifications that will help them find employment.

About PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana

PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is a government scheme designed to provide skill training to unemployed youth across India. This initiative aims to give youth free training in 40 different sectors such as construction, electronics, food processing, furniture and fitting, handicrafts, gems and jewellery, and leather technology.
