Big relief for state people. Especially if you are a famer then today’s article is for you. This is a fantastic chance for farmers in Uttar Pradesh to grab a solar pump! The UP government is rolling out 54,000 solar pumps on a first-come, first-served basis through the PM Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahabhiyan. Both the central and state governments are teaming up to provide subsidies for eligible farmers. Applications are already open!

To get started, farmers can book their solar pumps by heading to the Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Department’s website (www.agriculture.up.gov.in). A token fee of Rs 5000 is required when making the booking. If you’re part of the PM Kusum scheme, you can enjoy a 60% subsidy on the pump’s cost, but you’ll need to cover the remaining 40%. This scheme makes it easier for farmers to irrigate their crops without breaking the bank.

So, what’s the PM Kusum Yojana all about?

The PM KUSUM Scheme aims to set up solar pumps in areas lacking electricity, where farmers currently rely on diesel pumps or other methods for irrigation. In regions where solar pumps are installed, farmers will have their electricity connections cut off.

For the installation, specific boring sizes are required: 4 inches for a 2 HP pump, 6 inches for 3 and 5 HP pumps, and 8 inches for 7.5 HP and 10 HP pumps. The depth limits for installation vary, with 2 HP surface pumps working up to 22 feet, submersible pumps going deeper, and larger pumps reaching up to 300 feet.

Each district has a set number of solar pumps available, and the “first come, first served” rule applies for applications. After confirming the token, farmers have 14 days to generate an online token for the remaining amount. If they need to take out a loan for the leftover cost after the subsidy, they can benefit from an interest rebate.
